The year is 2065 and a war is breaking out in Hong Kong China. You begin playing as 2nd Lt. Nathan Frost. You are part of an international army called the Liberty Coalition that is just trying to keep peace in the area. However within minutes you are under attack. Just when things are looking good you hear the buzz of a plane in the air. As you look up you can see it has released a bomb and it is heading right for you. You run to save your wounded friend, but it was too late. The bomb hits before you could get to cover and you are practically blown to peices.

Later you wake up and surprisingly you are still alive. However, you have become part of an experimental project. You are now an augmented super-solder that can potentially determine the outcome of the war. You have blue electronic vanes running through you and a number of new abilities. You are part of a project named Snowblind.

Project: Snowblind is a hot new first person shooter game that will be coming out this February. From what we have seen thus far it has the potential to compete with some of the top names in the first person shooter genre. The game has some great looking graphics so far, an excellent storyline, and superb gameplay.

As you play through the game you will have a number of objectives per level. As you complete one or more objectives more will become available. Unlike many other games you can not just rush through each objective or quickly run to the end of the stage. There are a number of objectives you must perform in one area, while taking on enemy fire, and then once completed you will move onto the next stage. The final release of the game will contain eleven missions that span over sixteen maps.

The number and variety of weapons included in this game is quite amazing. Your arsenal will range from normal pistols, rifles, and shotguns to high tech weapons such as the Kinetic Kicker (which allows you to push or pull objects), the Icepack (which allows you to hack into computers), and the Riot Wall (which is a device that deploys into a temporary barrier). Almost every weapon has a primary and secondary fire. For example the Carbine, or standard military file, will launch explosives as its secondary fire.

Your secondary weapons will usually consist of grenades. There are a number of grenade types such as frag, EMP, flash, gas, and even a spider grenade that deploys mini spiderbots. In most games grenades can be a hard skill to master. If not thrown correctly they will bounce elsewhere, or even worse into a friend or ally. Luckily this is the future and you can remotely detonate the grenades at any time.

Besides your normal primary and secondary weapons you also have your bio-augmentations which allow you to perform inhuman actions, however there is a limit to how long you can use these capabilities. There is a bio-energy display on the screen located next to your health. Once it is fully depleted you will suddenly loose your ability. The first ability that you will get is the enhanced vision, which allows you to better spot out enemies even if they are behind a wall. Another ability that you will obtain later in the game is called the ballistic shield. When the ballistic shield is activated you are invincible. If you are low on health and do not want to risk going through the next area this ability will be your best friend. There are a number of other special bio-augmentations that will be available in the retail version of the game.

Another great plus about this game is that their will be many drivable vehicles in the game. Just like Halo 2, the vehicles in Project: Snowblind can carry more than just one person. Many of the vehicles in this game have a seat for just the driver and a seat for just the gunner. The vehicles give you a huge advantage because they can travel much quicker than you can run and have much more fire power then many single soldiers put together.

With such a great game like this you would think it would be a crime to not allow players to play online. Luckily Project: Snowblind will have Xbox Live capabilities and a large amount of game types online. Some of the online game types planned for this game will be Deathmatch, Hunter, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Fast Flag Capture, Tactical Assault, Demolition, and quick Demolition. As you can see the game is going to have an excellent reply value as long as you have your box hooked up for Xbox Live. Once you finish the campaign mode, there will always be more fun online.

From what we have seen so far, Project: Snowblind definitely has the potential to compete with the top first person shooter games on the Xbox. It has great graphics, a nice futuristic storyline, tons of weapons and vehicles, and of course Xbox Live capabilities. Without a doubt, Project: Snowblind will be one of the most memorable first person shooter games for months to come after its release.
